Along with millions of other New Yorkers, I find myself in a fashion funk this time of year. Every day you find yourself slipping on the same shoes, tying the same scarf over your neck, and zipping up the same monotone coat. That's why when I wandered into Rebecca Taylor on the first snowy night of the year, this lavender coat was calling my name!

We need more color in winter time. Everyone is feeling grey...and even when you look around New York, the beautiful snow that graced the city is quickly contaminated and transformed into a grey and black slush. It's amazing what a pop of color can do: It's pretty much scientifically proven to brighten one's mood! Whenever I'm feeling a little down, sweeping on my favorite red lipstick or rocking my suede green pumps goes a LONG way!

Rebecca Taylor is great at making silhouettes that embodies strength and confidence with a delicate touch. I love the pockets and the adorable hidden snaps on the inside that make wearing this coat an even more pleasurable experience. I also love the texture. I played around with different color dimensions and brushstrokes to embody a fur look on the cake, and put those snaps front and center.

Showing how you can rock that pop of color during the dreary winter months was easy having the New York Public Library as our backdrop. Well, it was easy once we fought off all the tourists!!
